Breadner Secondary School students designed motifs for their painted canvas floorcloths. The medium was historically used for home decoration and now decorates the school hallway. Perfect for learning about group work, each group collaborated with ideas in a step-by-step plan to manage the layering of the painted details. This required a strong and well developed concept, teamwork skills and willingness to succeed. Students were satisfied with their effort and their expressive artwork. A team of parent volunteers maintained the brush and paint quality throughout the workdays.
The Floorcloth Workshop challenged groups to work out the mathematics to accurately transfer their unique plans to scale onto the 5ft X 5ft canvas pieces.
